David Poe, often described simply as a "Singer/Songwriter", actually is a lot more than this.
Within the years, he has toured the world together with stars like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Tori Amos and more.
His music has been featured in a wide variety of motion pictures, as well as dance and theater projects.
The project "Shadowland" has been on tour since 2009, performing around the world with contemporary dance company Pilobolus.
As you may know, David Poe moreover is not only a composer, but also a producer, and has produced recordings for artists like Regina Spektor, Grace Kelly, Jenifer Jackson and Brendan Hines.
As a solo artist, his works have been praised around the globe. The Rolling Stone Magazine said about the album "love is red" that it is "an almost perfect album".
His compositions may remind you of the Beatles, (he admittedly is a huge fan of them) but they include so much more: Folk, Pop, Rock, Grunge, Country or even Jazz.
Poe's hometown is New York, but he is currently living in Los Angeles.
Personal Review of "The God & The Girl"
His latest album is called "The God & The Girl", and if I may say so, after the first time listening to it I already got stuck.
The peaceful atmosphere of "Honey Moon" or "Let There Be No Longing"; the bittersweet sadness in "When I Fly"; the simple descriptions probably all of us can identify with in "Lonely Like Me"
- the album has the perfect mixture of songs you need for almost every mood you might have.
Listening to it made me happy and relaxed and thoughtful in yet a very calming way.
David Poe picks up seasons, colors, moods and just "life" and weaves all of it into melodies that make your mind wander for a while.
Poe is actually also in the process of producing David Anders' album and I think we can all be more than curious and excited about the outcome…
